Easy Cookin’

meal 2.jpg

Coming back with another meal for you all, and this one turned out to be delicious. This meal contains: turkey sausage, shrimp, broccoli, and red potatoes. I decided to get turkey sausage for this one because I wanted to try it. Turns out it’s really appetizing.

This is another simple meal that you can just throw in the oven for 30-40 minutes at 400 degrees. I like to cook meals at higher temps to speed the cooking process some. Also, I put foil down just to make cleaning easier, definitely not needed to cook this meal. Overall time to prep this meal took around 10 minutes. The only prepping needed for this meal is cutting the sausage and potatoes. I like to cut the potatoes into smaller pieces to make them cook faster. To season this I used salt, pepper, and tiny bit of garlic. You can season this however you may find suitable, but I like to keep things simple. This meal was relatively cheap, it cost less than $20. I decided to use the small tailless shrimp, but if you go with the bigger size it will cost you more. I can usually eat this meal for 2-3 days, and with it only costing around $20 it’s a great deal for a broke college student.

This meal turned out to be really simple and delightful as well. Anyone can make this meal, and that’s the whole point of this blog. I want to show how easy cooking can actually be. Hope you enjoyed this one and I’ll see y’all next week.

Working with what you have

As a college student I find it hard to keep a good eating schedule, and when I do eat I want fast and convenient. I stay busy throughout the day with school work or whatever it may be and find myself eating irregularly. I don’t like to sit around and wait to prepare/cook food. In my opinion, I can be spending my time better by doing something else. Overall, if I do cook, I want it to be simple, fast, and taste good enough to eat.

This is a meal I whipped together with what I had in my apartment. This meal consist of white rice, broccoli, and chicken. I typically top it all off with some teriyaki sauce, Sriracha, and soy sauce. I usually like to include red bell peppers and sometimes I will throw in some onions. But, I did not have bell peppers and onions this time, thus the title, “Working with what you have.” This takes overall thirty minutes to cook, but hardly any labor. I like to cut my chicken up into smaller pieces, season it with salt and pepper, and cook it in the oven at 400 degrees until fully cooked. I buy broccoli that you can steam in the bag and it takes 3 minutes. The rice is just a boil in the bag rice and you need to boil it for 10 minutes.

Like I said before, I like for my food to be fast and convenient. This meal is a very simple one to throw together and it taste good as well. Hopefully you liked this one and I’ll have a new one for you all next week.
