French Toast


Here lately I have been craving french toast but haven’t satisfied the craving until recently. I found this recipe online, but I can’t remember where  I found it. Out of all the recipes out there this one was one of the more simpler ones.

This recipe includes:

  • Texas Toast
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp of pure vanilla
  • 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon

As you can see, there is not much going on with this french toast but it had really good flavor. This was my first time to make french toast and I would say it went okay. It turned out to taste amazing but it was a little soggy. The recipe I found didn’t show me how long to cook it or on what temperature. Little did I know french toast would have a learning curve. As you can see on the picture, it turned out to be a pretty good color. I probably need to cook them slower next time so they have time to dry out some of that egg wash.

Overall, it turned out to be really good for a first try. Next time I would probably try to find a more advanced recipe. Sometime recipes can be too simple and they lack some flavor. The recipe I used was simple, yet satisfying, but I know it can be better.


Chicken Spaghetti


Chicken spaghetti, one of my personal favorites. This is another one you can cook in the crock pot. If you haven’t noticed, I am a big believer in the crockpot. It just makes everything so simple. To make this meal you will need:

  • 2 Chicken breast (roughly 1 lb)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup green bell peppers
  • 1 small can Green chilies
  • 1/2 cup of red bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup of yellow onion
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup
  • Chicken stock (3 splashes)
  • 3/4 lb of spaghetti noodles
  • 1 tsp Salt/pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 3 cups of cheddar cheese

I guess this recipe is a little more involved than my others one, but it is still very simple. All you need to do is dice the peppers and onions, boil the noodles, and then add them to the crockpot later on.

First off, you need to put the chicken into the crockpot and cook that for 4-5 hours. Make sure you add all the spices and peppers so they have time to cook and marinate. Once the chicken has been cooking for a while and is almost ready you need to boil the noodles. Once those noodles are done add them to the chicken in the crockpot and let all of that cook for roughly 30 min. You should add the cheese 10 minutes before everything is done. After all of that, you are good to go and the chicken spaghetti is ready to eat.

I found this recipe online and I thought it had too many noodles and not enough chicken. If you were to try this I would either add more chicken or less noodles. Find a happy medium. Next time I will be adding more chicken. Anyways, this is it! I hope you all enjoyed this one.

Pot Roast


Here recently at Walmart they have been selling this pot roast. They have them placed in the refrigerated section right when you walk in. I have been interested in trying one, but I would always walk right past by it. This week I decided to give it a try.

Turns out to be amazing. This pot roast came prepackaged with everything. It came with the potatoes, carrots, onion and even the seasoning. It was very convenient they had this all packaged together. The only thing I had to do to prepare this was just throw it all into the crockpot. I choose to cook this on low for 8 hours. I like to cook things on low because I feel it cooks better and turns out to be more tender the longer you keep it in. I can promise it was worth the wait, this pot roast was so tender and cooked to perfection.

With the freezing weather we had last week I though this would be the perfect thing to cook. This turned out to be one of the best meals I have made since I started this blog.

Ain’t no thing but a chicken wing


Did you know you can buy 14 chicken drumsticks for $5?? I sure didn’t. (I ate one before I took the picture…). I was so shocked for the price I had to pay for the amount of chicken I was getting. I usually buy the chicken breast in packs of 3 for roughly 6-7 dollars. I just wanted to share the wealth and make that announcement for you all.

Anyways, these drumsticks turned out to be absolutely amazing and very simple to make. Its another crockpot recipe that does most the work for you. To make these wings all you need is:

  • Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • Barbecue Sauce (your choice)

Once you get the drumsticks out of the packaging you need to rub them down with all the spices listed above. Once you are done with that, throw them in the crockpot and let them cook on high for 3-5 hours, depending on how many wings you have. I cooked 14 of them for 4 hours.  After they are done cooking in the crockpot you need to brush on the barbecue sauce. Make sure you use quite a bit to really let the flavor set in.

Once you have brushed on the barbecue sauce you need to place them on an oven tray and set the oven to broil. Broil the drumsticks for 4-6 minutes only. You need to be careful and make sure you don’t burn the barbecue sauce you layered on the wings. The broil allows the drumsticks to get a little crispy and dry up that barbecue so they aren’t drenched in sauce. Once you have done all of those steps, enjoy!

The best thing about this meal is how little I spent to get it. I already had all of the spices and all I needed was the chicken. 14 drumsticks for $5, I still can’t get over that. You can easily make 3-4 meals with this amount of chicken for just $5. It ended up to be absolutely delicious and cheap. What more can you ask?

Taco Mountain

There couldn’t be a more fitting name for this meal. Layers and layers of taco goodness that you don’t want to end. If you are a lover of anything tacos, I can almost guarantee you are going to love this meal

The great thing about this meal is you can add more or less of any ingredient based on your hunger or your taste. I decided to cook 2 pounds of ground beef and it was way more than I anticipated. I will be eating this for days. Things you need to make this meal:

  • ground beef
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning
  • shredded lettuce
  • shredded cheese
  • Taco bell mild sauce (your preference on heat)
  • white rice
  • tortilla chips
  • tomatoes
  • onions

All you need to do to prep this meal is cook the ground beef on the stove top, boil your rice, and dice your vegetables. Once you have prepped everything you can’t just throw everything on your plate, it won’t be the same. Base layer needs to be the tortilla chips. You need a strong foundation to support your mountain. Next layer needs to be rice. This way the rice absorbs all the other flavors from the other ingredients. On top of the rice you need to put the ground beef, then the tomatoes and onions, then the lettuce, then the cheese, and finally the Taco Bell sauce.

Once you have completed the following steps you can step back and look at the best taco mountain you have ever seen. For all you taco lovers reading this, try this meal out. You will not regret it.

Hawaiian Sliders


These Hawaiian rolls are very simple to make having only a few ingredients. I made these a couple weeks ago when I went home to visit my family during fall break. I told my family about this blog and they wanted to see if I could actually make something. Overall, they were pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out.

When I go home I usually try to create something to eat. I am by no means a chef, but when I go home it’s nice to eat a home cooked meal. Typically when I am off at school I will eat from restaurants way too often. So being home and eating a home cooked meal is a nice change up.

To make these rolls all you need is Hawaiian rolls, ham, and Swiss cheese. The sauce on top includes Worcestershire sauce, minced onions, poppy seed, mustard and a whole stick of butter. To make it into a liquid state you need to put all of that into the microwave until it all melts and has a low viscosity. The sauce is what really makes these sliders, it is the key ingredient to what makes them successful. Put all the sliders onto a tray and put them in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until bread starts to brown and cheese starts to melt. I like to put foil on top of mine to prevent the bread from getting too cooked. As you may be able to tell from the picture, these turned out to be phenomenal. If you want something that is quick and easy, and to-go, I would try these out!

Chicken Tortilla Soup


It is officially soup season. I am not sure where this weather came from, but I am so glad the cooler weather has rolled in. This cooler weather is definitely a call for a good bowl of soup. I really enjoyed this one and I hope you all will as well.

This is another easy crockpot recipe that allows you to throw in all the ingredients and walk away. This recipe includes:

  • 3 chicken breast
  • 1/2 onion
  • Black beans
  • Corn
  • Bell peppers
  • Fire roasted tomatoes
  • 2 cups Chicken broth
  • Garlic

The recipe calls for cilantro, but I am pretty sure nobody actually enjoys eating cilantro. I always omit when I see it. If you do enjoy cilantro…. then more power to you. To season you use Cumin, Chili powder, and salt. To top it all off, throw some cheese on top and let it melt and then add some tortilla strips for a little crunch.  I didn’t include exact measurements because you can kind add more or less of certain ingredients if you want. With the amount of ingredients I used it was more of a chunky soup, but that is what I wanted so I was happy with the outcome.

All you need to do is throw this in the crockpot on low for 5+ hours. You can cook on it on the high setting, but I personally think low is better and the food gets cooked better. The only “bad” thing with a crockpot is that it tortures you with having to smell the delicious food knowing it isn’t ready until that timer goes off.

This meal turned out to be delicious and if you are a lover of soup like me, then you should definitely give this recipe a try.

Hamburger Steaks

This is a more “working with what you have 2.0.” I had ground beef left over from the last meal that I prepared and I needed to do something different with it. This meal isn’t the most picturesque content, but it tasted phenomenal.

This meal was very easy to make. I was a little unsure of the potatoes at first because they were the instant mashed potatoes and I have never had them before. All you need to do for these potatoes is boil some water, then add the potatoes and just stir like crazy until they have the consistency of mashed potatoes. They actually turned out great and I will probably buy them again. These potatoes were already flavored with garlic and herb.

I love corn, it is by far my favorite vegetable and when corn is on the cob it is 10 times better. I usually buy the canned corn and just cook it in the pan on the stovetop, but this time I decided to try corn on the cob that you boil. Although the corn is cooked the same way, I was a little skeptical of frozen corn on the cob that you boil. Turn out it tasted better than regular canned corn.

Overall this meal turned out great. It was more of a last minute meal that was not my best effort, but it all turned out to taste great. I was a little worried when I was making this meal because I have never used some of the ingredients before. I wanted to try the potatoes and the corn and they turned better than I thought. I will have a better one for you all next week, but I hope you liked this one.

Keepin’ it simple


You can never go wrong with a hamburger. When I go to restaurants and I don’t really see anything on the menu I like, I will nine times out of ten get a hamburger. It is hard to mess up a hamburger. This looks like a plain hamburger, but it’s on the inside what counts.

These hamburgers require you to make the patty yourself, can’t buy the pre-made patties. All you need is a bowl or anything just to contain the meat while you add all the ingredients to it.  For this recipe you need to get everything you want on a hamburger and mix it in with the ground beef and mash it all together. I decided to go with bacon, cheese, and onions.  I seasoned the hamburgers with Worcestershire (no idea how to actually pronounce that, so I call it Wooster.), and garlic powder. And that’s it, I like to keep it simple.

I can’t have a charcoal grill since I live in an apartment, so I had to use a George Foreman grill instead. I would much rather use the charcoal grill because it just seems to make most things taste better. Anyways, you need to preheat the Foreman grill and add the burgers once heated. Let those burgers cook for 5-10 minutes and enjoy!

They say something along the lines of “what really matters is what is on the inside.” With these burgers it’s all about the inside. I hope you all enjoyed this one. These tasted fantastic.

Crockpot Tacos


I can almost guarantee these crockpot tacos will be the best tacos you have tried. My mom makes these all the time and I decided to give them a go for myself. I learned a few things the hard way, but in the end they tasted great and that’s all that counts.

What you need to make these tacos are: makes approximately 12 tacos

  • 3-4 chicken breast
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning
  • 1 packet of powdered ranch seasoning
  • 1/4 cupSalsa
  • 14 oz Fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • Cheese
  • Taco shells

These tacos are super simple to make, anyone can make them. All you need to do is put all the ingredients into a crock pot and let them cook on low for 5+ hours. The best thing about a crockpot is you don’t really have to worry about cooking. You can put the chicken in the crockpot and then go to class, workout, or whatever it may be.

This recipe isn’t the fastest option, but the simplicity of it makes up for the time. Once the chicken has been cooked in the crockpot, you take two forks and shred the chicken up. You then take the chicken, load them into the taco shells and put them on an oven tray. Once they are on the tray you top the tacos off with cheese. The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees and let them cook for 10 minutes. Once they are done, enjoy!

Mistakes I made while making this meal. First off, soggy taco shells. When you make this meal there will be a ton of liquid in the crockpot from the chicken and everything else you put in there. When you load the chicken into the shells, make sure you let the liquid drain off the chicken beforehand. If you don’t your taco shells will become soggy and they will fall apart. Secondly, place parchment paper on the oven tray and then put your tacos on the paper before cooking. This will make clean up a breeze and prevent your tacos from sticking. I made the mistake of using foil on the tray and the tacos stuck to it and then I was left with bottomless taco shells. NOT FUN.

Overall this meal turned out amazing, and I would definitely suggest it to anyone who loves tacos. Also, sorry for such a lame picture of the tacos, I totally forgot I cooked these for the blog and my girlfriend and I devoured them before I could get a good picture of them all. So far, these tacos have been my favorite meal I have posted.
